Trafficking Methylampetamine While on a Suspended Sentence

GT was charged with drug trafficking as he had an amount of methylamphetamines together at his home with other indicia including money, scale and other notes.

Unfortunately he had received previously a suspended sentence for serious criminal trespass. He had been placed on that suspended sentence bond which he broke by committing these trafficking offences.

What occurred after we obtained a large number of references and a psychological report, submissions were made about his rehabilitation attempts and the fact that he had been able to provide clean urine samples for a large number of months.

The Court found good reason to excuse the breach of the bond but extended the bond for a further 6 months. In respect to the trafficking he was sentenced to 3 years and 13 days with a non-parole period of 17 months which was then suspended upon him entering into a bond to be on good behaviour for a period of 3 years, to be under supervision for 18 months and to complete 100 hours of community work.

This was an excellent result bearing in mind the fact he had been on a suspended sentence at the time of committing this offence.
