Defendant attended party at his mother’s house on Boxing Day. Guests became intoxicated. Victim had been asked to leave after making unsavoury comments to the Defendant’s mother.

Victim made physical contact with Defendant’s mother, resulting in her falling to the ground. Defendant punched victim once to the face. Victim sustained a broken nose, 4 chipped teeth and 1 broken tooth. Defendant had prior convictions for assault.
